Reporting Pupil Absence

This is a reminder to all parents/carers that the correct way to report absences is to leave a message on the absence line answerphone daily. If messages are sent by email to the admin email address they will not be registered in time for the morning attendance and you may then receive a call from our attendance team.

Kingswood

This week, Year 4 went on their residential trip to Kingswood, which is in Norfolk, where they bravely spent 2 nights away from home.

The children had many opportunities to have a go at some adventurous activities such as caving, leap of faith, zip-wiring, archery, problem solving and fire-lighting, with so many fearlessly facing their fears.

The adults on the trip have all commented how each child showed exemplary behaviour and we want to share that we are very proud of each and every one of them.

More photos can be found here.

Persistent Absences

If your child takes too much time off school they will become categorised as PA or persistently absent.  Missing school will make your child fall behind in lessons and will impact on their academic progress and achievement.

Below is the percentage of children per year group who currently fall into this category.  If you are worried about your child’s school attendance, please do not hesitate to contact the school where we can work with you to improve this.

Netball

This week the Riverside Netball team played in a netball tournament held at Deanes School. They played 5 matches against schools in Essex.

The team played their socks off from start to finish, making some great interceptions, scorings some amazing goals, but the greatest thing they did was play as a team!

Though they didn’t move on to the next phase they did hold off some teams who had won their leagues!

Grace scored a cracking goal in her first match for Riverside, Isla and Evie formed an incredible defensive double act – stopping the opposing team from scoring. Emily and Vienna just didn’t stop running until the final whistle! Scarlett and Lydia communicated brilliantly helping creat chances to score!

After today we are really excited for what they well achieve next year!
