Riverside Primary School Excels in Attendance! We are thrilled to share some exciting news: Riverside Primary School has been honored with a prestigious award for school attendance by FFT for the Autumn Term 2023!
FFT, a trusted organisation collecting daily attendance data from over 10,000 schools nationwide, recognises our commitment to attendance tracking and monitoring. Through their Attendance Tracker system, schools like ours can compare and monitor attendance weekly.
This recognition is particularly special as awards are only bestowed upon schools ranking in the Top 10% and Top 25% of all FFT schools nationally for the 2023/24 Autumn term.

Each week, we will be sharing with you which KS2 class has read the most words. We will find this out by using data from the Accelerated Quizzes.
Children must score over 70% in their quiz for the book to count towards their class word count.

Year 4 went time-travelling on Wednesday and went back over 2000 years to learn more about our history topic. The children went and visited Colchester Castle, which is where they were able to explore the national story of Roman and Norman conquest and the Boudiccan revolt.
Both classes were also very lucky to have taken part in two workshops. One was very hands-on as they were asked to construct a large Roman Villa and Iron Age Roundhouse, as well as handling archaeologists finds. The other was a guided story tour in the Roman Temple Vaults which were underneath the castle!
As always, both Turtle and Giraffe classes were very respectful to their surroundings and asked very articulate questions.
Thank you to the parent volunteers who came and helped support the staff throughout the trip.

World Book Day 2024 is fast approaching – Thursday 7th March 2024. On this day, we invite children to dress-up as their favourite book character.
The National Literacy Trust’s theme this year is “Footy and Bookys” encouraging children to dress-up as their favourite football player and read football themed books too.
Your child may choose to wear their football kits, wear a costume of their favourite book character or come in their favourite, comfy clothes to read books in.
No donation is needed for this dress-up day: it is purely to celebrate and enjoy reading.

Please arrive in between 7.30 – 8.15am. Your child will be walked back to their class by a member of staff when the school day begins.

The children can take part in many different activities including board games, laptops, painting etc.
Twilight club cost £7.50 per session.
Twilight Club runs from 3:15pm to 5pm. Your child will be taken to Twilight club by their class teacher at the end of the school day.

The marketplace is going to be run during the morning. There will also be parent/carer workshops which will take place during the morning and afternoon. These are being organised with SENDIASS. Parents will be able to drop into the marketplace but will need to sign up for the workshops.
EYFS Parent Drop in sessionsThe EYFS team would like to invite parents into their classroom on the following dates. These are short sessions where children can show parents their fabulous work on display from that half term.
