Riverside vs Edward Francis

The Year 3/4 football team saw out a tricky match on February 26th, playing against a very tough Edward Francis team. Despite many good chances and great forward plays, the team were unlucky to see none of these lead to a goal in Riverside’s favour. After a hard match, Riverside saw out a 2-0 loss, holding their heads high after a very balanced game with no luck on our side. A big well done to the team despite the result.

PTA: Wonky Bars

We hope this newsletter finds you well and full of the joys of spring! This past Thursday, our school was buzzing with excitement as we extended our World Book Day celebrations with a delightful addition – “Wonky Bars”! Our very own Oompa Loompas were on site, offering these scrumptious treats to our eager children.

Not only did they satisfy sweet cravings, but they also helped raise funds for new PE mats! What a delicious way to support our school! In an extra sprinkle of excitement, fifteen lucky children were presented with their very own “Golden Ticket” during our Celebration Assembly on Friday.

The joy on their faces was truly heartwarming! These Golden Ticket winners are in for an extra special treat, and we can’t wait to see the smiles it brings.

As always, we extend our deepest gratitude to the Riverside Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) for orchestrating such wonderful events and creating cherished memories for our students. Your hard work and dedication continue to make our school community vibrant and thriving.

Thank you for your unwavering support!

Krav Maga

A in year 4 has been training in Krav Maga, a self-defence system from Israel almost 5 years. On Saturday she took her 2nd grading, promoting her to a Y2 level. To achieve this, she has to kick and punch pads, escape from being pinned on the ground and she even had to fight the head instructor!

A did so well, she was recognised as the star of the grading!

Horse Jumping

N in year 6, gained a rosette for achieving a clear round in a ‘learn to jump’ show jumping event during half term. A clear round is the horse jumping over 7 different jumps without knocking the pole off. He showed strength and control and rode his horse, Tom, clear round the course.

Double Header

Both the boys and the girls played in matches against Rayleigh last week, with tricky match ups for both sides. The boys played in a league match where a win would see them go to the top of the league with two matches remaining. However, a very difficult match provided few chances for the boys to capitalise on.

Every player on the team fought hard and tried their best, putting in tough challenges, finding tough passes, and trying to get shots off. Despite their best efforts, the boys’ match finished 2-0 to a very good Rayleigh side.

The boys have another chance to go to the top of the league in their next match against Grovewood.

The girls’ match was a game of two halves. In the first half, the girls defended fantastically, and played loads of passes to keep the ball in play and under control, though the strong Rayleigh defence stopped any chances at goal.

In the second half, despite letting goals in, Riverside’s girls had several chances going up the pitch to attack, making great attacking chances. The girls are making fantastic progress and worked incredibly hard together as a team.
